King Charles III Coronation

The Coronation Concert at Windsor Castle brought together broadcast production, security, ticketing, artists, crew, traders and site teams across a large and high-profile estate. With the event being broadcast to a global audience, every operational system depended on reliable, high-capacity connectivity, from TV production through to gate entry, site communications and on-the-ground coordination.

Outcome:

Pinnacom delivered the full communications infrastructure for the Coronation Concert at Windsor Castle, enabling a successful live broadcast while supporting critical on-site operations across the high-security environment.

The network provided 2Gb of available capacity across the site, supporting broadcast production, security systems, gate entry services, production internet, WiFi and VoIP telephony at key locations.

Challenge:

The Coronation Concert required a resilient and high-capacity network across a large event site spanning more than a square mile.

The system needed to support:

  • Live broadcast production

  • Gate entry and ticketing services

  • Security operations

  • Production internet

  • Artist, crew and trader connectivity

  • VoIP telephony at key locations

With national attention on the event and zero tolerance for connectivity failure, the infrastructure needed to perform reliably across a large, security-sensitive environment with multiple user groups and operational pressures.

Solution:

Pinnacom designed and deployed a complete temporary network infrastructure for the event within a six-week build window.

The deployment included:

  • Installation of new fibre circuits at Windsor Castle

  • Full-site network build across production, stage, security, trader and operational areas

  • Over two miles of fibre to bring wired networking and WiFi to key zones

  • Multiple point-to-point microwave links extending connectivity almost one mile from the main concert location

  • Bonded Starlink systems alongside managed multi-network cellular resilience to provide additional resilience

  • On-site engineering support throughout build, live operation and de-rig

At the end of the event, the full installation was quickly removed from site.
