    • Environment: Retail activation and live sporting event

    • Timeline: 72-hour installation turnaround

    • Challenge: Insufficient connectivity before a major live event

    • Solution: Load-balanced 5G sim connectivity with satellite resilience

    • Outcome: Reliable high-speed connectivity delivered before race day

    • Load-balanced 5G connectivity

    • Satellite internet resilience

    • Temporary WiFi deployment

    • Rapid deployment within 72 hours

    • Installed and tested ahead of live operations

    • Over 100Mb download / 50Mb upload available throughout

    • Capacity for 200+ simultaneous users

    • Event-ready infrastructure delivered under tight operational deadlines

Outcome:

Pinnacom delivered a fully operational interim connectivity platform within days, ensuring uninterrupted internet access for marathon management teams, registrations and operational staff ahead of race weekend.

Installed and tested within a compressed time frame, the system provided resilient high-speed connectivity throughout the event with no reported connectivity issues during live operations.

Challenge:

Just days before the Manchester Marathon, it became clear that the adidas store did not have sufficient internet capacity to support the operational demands of the event.

The site needed to accommodate:

  • Competitor registration systems

  • Event management teams

  • Production and operational staff

  • Increased demand during peak event activity

With the marathon approaching rapidly, a resilient temporary solution needed to be designed, deployed and tested within an extremely tight timeframe.

Solution:

Following notification of the issue midweek, Pinnacom installed the system Thursday evening after store closure and fully tested it on Friday morning ahead of marathon weekend.

To ensure resilience and consistent performance, Pinnacom implemented:

  • Load-balanced 5G sim connectivity

  • Satellite internet backup

  • Temporary WiFi infrastructure across the site

The deployment delivered stable high-speed connectivity capable of supporting more than 200 simultaneous users, while primarily servicing key operational and registration teams during the event.
